Zipp Wheel Testing
In this video, a Zipp illustrative speaks about the tests that Zipp wheels go through in order to meet their high standards.
2009 Zipp Wheels
Road gear round-up: Spin Speed Metal 40 wheels
Looking at the two the Planet X are a 30mm rim (and I mark the Kinlins have a more v shaped profile) whereas the Spin are on 40mm rims that look to have a curved turn to advantage.
For the depth (i.e. very deep for an alu rim) they're a good weight and should be decently aero too. If they assemble up as well as the Kinlins they'll make some very tough aero training wheels or a cheap aero selection for anyone who doesn't mind a little added weight (and a huge £ compensating) compared to carbon.
SRAM 2012: Rise 60 carbon wheelset first ride
While the diverse SRAM brands have had an offering for pretty much every part of your bike frame, the evident gap in their armour has always been wheelsets. They’ve had X9 and X7 hubs with rebranded rims on tender for those who absolutely needed a complete groupset on their mountain bike but, with the procurement of Indianapolis based carbon fibre wheelset specialist Zipp a few years back, it was always on the cards that principal end MTB wheelsets bearing the SRAM name would be coming.
Specialized Venge Pro review
Specialized’s McLaren tweaked S-Works Venge has had a horrific first year on the pro road circuit. This is a more affordable version of their aero roadster and is probable be on the shortlists of a lot of age-groupers looking for solo efficiency without the full aero go specifics of Spesh’s Shiv or Transition.
Aerodynamics: Victory by a Thousand Cuts
Some say that aerodynamic tricks are asinine, and they're propitious (at least partly). There's no individual aerodynamic thingumbob on the hawk, no unattached twitch you can do with your cablegram routing or meagre kit configuration that will move you...
Zipp move one more step ahead
Zipp Firecrest was launched in the September 2010. Some comments I have heard is they 'don't look high-speed' . It is an stimulating thrust but if everything was based on aesthetics then the present-day carbon bike would maybe have been...
