Marc 'Slugger' Beaumont has been a firm of the British and international mountain bike scenes for over a decade now and he shows no signs of slowing down, captivating his second World Cup win in Val Di Sole, Italy last year.

We caught up with him and his mechanic, Earmark Maurissen, in the pits to check out his unique-looking ride, the GT Virago. One of just a handful of carbon fibre machines on the downhill bound – the other notable example being Santa Cruz's V-10 Carbon – this corpulent beast weighs a svelte 36lb, thanks to its lightweight frame and some voice finishing kit.
