Here’s the latest salvo in the recurrent power and performance war: Chevy will top Ford’s 550-hp Shelby GT500 with a hefty 580-hp—SAE-certified—supercharged and intercooled 6.2-liter V-8 when the Camaro ZL1 definitively hits the street early next year as a 2012 model. To offset for Ford’s cam and valve advantage, Chevy resorted to the classic contrivance of an extra 0.8-liter of displacement over the Mustang's 5.4 liters, thereby achieving the northern hand in torque: 556 lb-ft at 4200 rpm versus the GT500’s 510 lb-ft at 4250 rpm. For the chronicle, this new LSA small-block V-8 is the highest-caliber ammo ever loaded into any motion Camaro by the factory.

It's been a gambit and crazy summer but I've enjoyed every minute of it.
Samantha and I have been racing whenever we can. The fun affair about Samantha is she loves drag racing as much as I do and we've been able to compete together relatively a bit. She's already won a national event in SuperComp and this year we got her more involved with some of the high-dollar corbel races around the country and she's proven to be quite a natural.
