Bike thefts remain number one campus crime
Bike exciting was the number one reported crime on campus last year, with a total of 329 bikes reported stolen, according to the Stanford Be sure to Public Safety 's (SDPS) annual report Stanford in a safe place out the month last.
The number represents a modest run of steam from the 375 reported bike thefts in 2009 and 353 in 2008. The refusal of bicycle thefts reported is a "good sign," the coordinator of the Stanford Ariane Scott bikes.

Don't stop with a U-lock: bike theft on campus
Earlier this week, I woke up and discovered that someone had tried to creep my bike.
The quarter-inch steel cable I use to attach my front wheel to my U-lock had been cut almost in half. Luckily, the measures I had put in set out since freshman year, when my bike was actually stolen, prevented the thief from making off with it. But the consequence still left a sour taste in my mouth. I am not alone in this either.
